First meeting of the DISSEM-INN project monitoring committee

The DISSEM-INN project monitoring committee met for the first time on 6 October 2022 in order to discuss the findings of the regional exchange workshop and the next activities planned.

This committee was conducted in four parts: a reminder of the main aspects of the DISSEM-INN project; a description of the first regional exchange workshop; a presentation of the findings and outputs generated by this workshop; and a discussion on these points and the next steps with regard to the future workshops planned on the agenda.

Further to the elements outlined (see presentation opposite), the monitoring committee suggested that the DISSEM-INN project should explore the question of the operational innovations produced by the DeSIRAs in terms of their specific dimensioning and their operational context in a situation of crisis. This exploration could help to identify levers or even to make recommendations useful to donors in the design and management of future initiatives.

Concerning the next activities, the committee suggested that DISSEM-INN should maintain the national workshops in three countries (Senegal, Burkina Faso, Niger) , concentrating at first on the organization of a pilot event in Senegal, with a hybrid format enabling the participation of all focal points.

To address upscaling, within these workshops, the committee suggested working with the bodies that play a key role in this process, especially national and regional agricultural extension and advisory organizations. In order to support the selection of participants in workshops, the committee suggested that the DISSEM-INN project should produce “mental maps” identifying all partners in the DeSIRAs, from the local to the international level.
